Our Values.
Dignity + Humanity of all People.
We believe that all people are inherently valuable and are deserving of respectful treatment and compassion. Period.
Collaboration.
Many hands make light work, and there is a lot to do! We want to work together with all stakeholders to create the best possible outcomes for the Down syndrome community.
Humility + Learning.
We won’t always get things right, but we will keep trying until we do. We will remain true to our purpose of benefiting and lifting up members of our community. Ego should never be prioritized above the well being of the community members that we serve.
Disability is an Identity.
Early interventions, therapies and diagnosis-specific medical care are not intended to change or ‘fix’ a person. We cannot change someone’s identity, and we would never want to! Therapies should not be delivered based on ‘deficits’, rather they are intended to give every person the opportunity to realize their OWN best life, and to meet the human needs of communication, mobility, and contribution and connection to their community. We will never let those words be confused with the able-centered terms “talking”, “walking” and “productivity”.
Disability is an Identity, too.
